A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. The patch modifies the ASID generation logic to increment rather than reset the generation counter on CPU online events, preventing ASID collisions after hotplug cycles. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the fix identified by the provided commit hashes.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's KVM SVM virtualization subsystem allows ASID collisions after CPU hotplug events. This occurs when a virtual CPU (vCPU) resumes on a physical CPU (pCPU) that has undergone a hotplug cycle, causing stale Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB) entries to be used due to ASID reuse. The issue manifests as KVM internal errors and emulation failures on certain instructions. The flaw is fixed by properly incrementing the ASID generation counter on CPU online events to prevent collisions.
