AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in specific Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes to prevent the kernel BUG caused by this vulnerability. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ice driver related to PTP (Precision Time Protocol) call trace during PTP release has been fixed. The issue occurs if a PF reset happens when the PTP state is ICE_PTP_UNINIT, leading to an invalid state transition and a kernel BUG during driver unload. The fix prevents this invalid state transition by detecting the ICE_PTP_UNINIT state and returning without error in ice_ptp_rebuild().
