AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel source to validate and reject zero-length monitoring regions in damon_set_regions(). Users should update to a fixed kernel version that includes these patches. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's DAMON subsystem allows zero-length memory monitoring regions to be set, which the core logic does not expect. This can cause kernel warnings and a divide-by-zero error in damon_merge_two_regions(). The issue arises because some DAMON API callers permit empty monitoring regions, triggering WARN_ONCE() and potential kernel instability when CONFIG_DAMON_DEBUG_SANITY is enabled. The flaw has been fixed by adding validation in damon_set_regions().
