AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-147.147, 6.8.0-1067.70, 7.0.0-1014.14~24.04.1, and other specified fixed versions. Users should upgrade to these fixed kernel releases to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/vc4 subsystem allowed shader buffer object (BO) mappings to become writable after validation, enabling userspace to modify GPU shader code post-validation. This flaw was fixed by clearing the VM_MAYWRITE flag on read-only mappings to prevent writable upgrades. The issue affects multiple Linux Azure kernel versions prior to specific fixed releases.
