A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to resolve this issue. The vendor advisory confirms the fix is included in updated linux-azure kernel packages. Users should update to the fixed versions to mitigate the vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mchp23k256 MTD driver was resolved by correcting how chip capacity information is retrieved. The driver previously used only the OF match table for chip capacity, causing incorrect MTD geometry when a non-OF SPI modalias match occurred. The fix uses spi_get_device_match_data() to consume SPI id-table driver data when OF match data is absent, preserving correct chip capacity detection.
