Description

A vulnerability in the SSSD component of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 allows a local attacker to cause the NSS responder to transmit uninitialized heap memory to a client. This occurs because the sss_nss_protocol_fill_initgr() function pre-allocates reply space for all group entries but does not shrink the packet when groups are skipped. The leaked data includes cached directory information and heap layout pointers from the sssd_nss process, but does not expose credentials or hashes. The flaw could aid in bypassing address space layout randomization (ASLR) if combined with other memory corruption vulnerabilities. No official fix or mitigation is currently available from Red Hat.
