CVE-2026-69190: CWE-639: Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key in Graylog2 graylog2-server
Graylog is a free and open log management platform. From 6.3.0 until 6.3.14, 7.0.9, and 7.1.4, the view update API for saved searches and dashboards permits a user with edit permission but without entity ownership to include a shareRequest that grants owner permissions to an arbitrary account. The selected account can then delete the saved search or dashboard or remove the original owner's access. Graylog Cloud was patched before the advisory was published. This issue is fixed in versions 6.3.14, 7.0.9, and 7.1.4.

Technical Summary
Graylog2 graylog2-server versions >=6.3.0 <6.3.14, >=7.0.0 <7.0.9, and >=7.1.0 <7.1.4 contain an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-639) in the view update API for saved searches and dashboards. A user with edit permission but lacking entity ownership can exploit this by including a shareRequest that grants owner permissions to an arbitrary account. This allows privilege escalation to owner level, enabling deletion of saved searches or dashboards and removal of the original owner's access. The vulnerability is addressed in versions 6.3.14, 7.0.9, and 7.1.4. Graylog Cloud was patched before the advisory was published. There are no known exploits in the wild.
Potential Impact
An attacker with edit permissions but without ownership can escalate privileges to owner level on saved searches and dashboards. This can lead to unauthorized deletion or modification of these entities and revocation of access for legitimate owners. The impact includes loss of data integrity and availability for affected Graylog2 server instances.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade Graylog2 graylog2-server to version 6.3.14, 7.0.9, or 7.1.4 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Graylog Cloud customers are already protected as the cloud service was patched before the advisory publication. No other mitigation is required.
