Published: 08/04/2026 (08/04/2026, 21:16:32 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: odysseus-dev
Product: odysseus

Description

Odysseus before commit 87babb5 contains a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability that allows attackers with admin privileges to make the server send requests to internal network resources. This occurs because the embedding endpoint configuration does not validate URL schemes, hosts, IP ranges, or DNS rebinding, enabling attackers to access internal services such as cloud instance metadata and internal APIs.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in odysseus prior to commit 87babb5 is a server-side request forgery (SSRF) flaw that permits admin-privileged attackers to supply arbitrary URLs to the embedding endpoint configuration without proper validation of scheme, host, IP range, or DNS rebinding. This lack of validation allows attackers to direct the server to probe internal network resources, including loopback addresses, RFC 1918 private IP ranges, and link-local addresses. As a result, attackers can partially read responses from internal services like cloud instance metadata endpoints and internal APIs accessible from the server.

Potential Impact

An attacker with admin privileges can exploit this SSRF vulnerability to access internal network resources that are normally inaccessible externally. This can lead to unauthorized information disclosure from internal services such as cloud metadata APIs or internal application endpoints. The vulnerability does not require user interaction and has no known exploits in the wild at this time. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 6.1, indicating a medium severity impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict admin privileges to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious use of the embedding endpoint configuration. Implement network-level controls to limit server access to sensitive internal resources if possible.
