Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: langchain-ai
Product: langgraph

Description

CVE-2026-71433 is a medium severity vulnerability in langchain-ai's langgraph product affecting the checkpoint saver implementations for Postgres and SQLite. Prior to version 3.1.1, hierarchical namespaces were stored as dot-joined strings and scoped reads used simple prefix matching. This allowed an authenticated user to access stored items from other tenants or users without needing crafted input, due to overlapping namespace prefixes or unescaped pattern metacharacters. The issue is fixed in langgraph-checkpoint-postgres and langgraph-checkpoint-sqlite version 3.1.1.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in langgraph's checkpoint saver for Postgres and SQLite arises from the way hierarchical namespaces are persisted and queried. Namespaces were flattened into dot-joined strings, and read operations scoped by prefix matching could inadvertently match sibling namespaces or those containing unescaped metacharacters. This flaw permitted an authenticated caller to retrieve data belonging to other tenants or users through normal scoped search or list namespaces calls, without requiring any specially crafted input. The flaw is addressed in version 3.1.1 of the affected packages.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user can access sensitive stored data belonging to other tenants or users, violating data confidentiality. There is no impact on integrity or availability. This exposure could lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information across tenant boundaries.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in langgraph-checkpoint-postgres and langgraph-checkpoint-sqlite version 3.1.1. Users should upgrade to version 3.1.1 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Patch status is not explicitly stated beyond this fix version, so confirm with vendor advisories for deployment guidance.
