AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix adds proper type checks and safe function calls to prevent null pointer dereferences. Users should update to patched kernel versions listed in the advisory. No additional mitigation is required as the issue is resolved by the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Mediatek power domain driver (pmdomain) could cause a null pointer kernel panic during hardware voter (HWV) cleanup or checks. This occurs because the driver unconditionally used a function intended for DIRECT_CTL domains on other domain types without proper checks. The issue was never observed in practice due to specific domain flags and probe behaviors but is considered critical to fix. The patch adds proper type checks and calls appropriate functions to prevent the null pointer dereference.
