An official patch is available that corrects the byte count passed to kfifo_in()/kfifo_out() to match the pointer size on all architectures. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include this fix. The vulnerability affects 64-bit builds with CONFIG_IEEE802154_CA8210_DEBUGFS enabled. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ieee802154 ca8210 driver causes pointer truncation on 64-bit architectures due to incorrect byte count usage in kfifo operations. This leads to the reconstruction of an invalid pointer with uninitialized upper bytes, causing kernel oops (crash) upon dereference. The issue affects 64-bit builds with CONFIG_IEEE802154_CA8210_DEBUGFS enabled and has been present since the driver was introduced in 2017. A patch is available to correct the byte count to match pointer size, preventing this unsafe behavior.
