A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to fix the reference count leak and reset the abort_in_progress flag properly. Users should update to the fixed kernel releases as provided by their Linux distribution vendors. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A reference count leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's scsi: elx: efct driver was fixed. The flaw occurs when efct_hw_reqtag_alloc() fails in efct_hw_io_abort(), causing a permanent reference leak and leaving the abort_in_progress flag set, which blocks future abort attempts for the same I/O. This issue was resolved by adding the missing reference release and resetting the abort flag. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to address this issue.
