A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's scsi hpsa driver caused a DMA mapping resource leak on the IOACCEL2 reset path. When phys_disk->in_reset was set, the function returned prematurely without releasing resources, potentially leading to resource exhaustion. This issue has been fixed by adding proper cleanup steps to unmap DMA mappings and decrement command counts before returning.
