A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to prevent kernel address leakage via perf branch stack sampling.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's perf subsystem on AMD Zen 3 processors allows kernel addresses to be leaked to user space when using branch stack sampling. This occurs because the software filter only validated branch-to addresses, leaving branch-from kernel addresses exposed. The issue has been fixed by extending the filter to also check branch-from addresses, preventing kernel address leakage.
