What to do
AI-suggested
A fix has been applied in the Linux kernel to safely handle purged buffer objects with NULL resources in bo_meminfo(). Users should update to the kernel version containing this patch to prevent the NULL pointer dereference. Since this is a kernel-level fix, applying the official kernel update is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated.
Description
A null pointer dereference (NPD) vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/xe component was resolved. The issue occurs when a buffer object (BO) is purged and its associated ttm.resource pointer is set to NULL, but the BO remains in the client's object list until userspace closes the GEM handle. If memory statistics are queried during this time, accessing the NULL ttm.resource pointer causes a crash. The fix safely skips purged BOs in memory info queries to avoid dereferencing NULL pointers.
