A patch is available and should be applied to affected linux-azure kernel versions to correct the error handling in the mma8452 driver. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's iio: accel: mma8452 driver was resolved by adding proper error handling for I2C read failures in the mma8452_read() function. Previously, if the I2C read failed but runtime power management succeeded, the function returned 0, causing the caller to use uninitialized stack memory. This could lead to unpredictable behavior. The issue affects specific linux-azure kernel versions and has been patched.
