Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-7273 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability (CWE-121) in the CGI program of Zyxel GS1900-48HPv2 firmware versions through 2.90(ABTQ.1)C0. An unauthenticated attacker with LAN access can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted HTTP request, potentially leading to arbitrary OS command execution. The vulnerability is rated high severity with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 8.8 (Attack Vector: Adjacent Network, Attack Complexity: Low, Privileges Required: None, User Interaction: None, Scope: Unchanged, Confidentiality/Integrity/Availability: High). No vendor advisory or patch information is currently available.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated attacker on the LAN to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the affected device. This can lead to full compromise of the device, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict LAN access to trusted users and networks to reduce exposure. Monitor Zyxel's official channels for updates and apply patches promptly once available.
