A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been resolved in updated kernel releases. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to mitigate this vulnerability.

Description

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's bpf_task_from_vpid() function was identified and resolved. The flaw occurs when cgroup_skb programs run in softirq context and may interrupt a task exiting the system, leading to a NULL pointer dereference in the kernel. This issue can cause a kernel crash (BUG) due to dereferencing a NULL pointer in the process of looking up a task by its virtual PID. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to fix this vulnerability.
