A patch is available and should be applied to affected linux-hwe-edge kernel versions to fix the TOCTOU race condition. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been resolved. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to mitigate this vulnerability.
Description
A time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's liveupdate component (luo_session_retrieve function) has been fixed. The issue involved insufficient locking scope, allowing a concurrent thread to potentially release and free a session between lookup and mutex lock acquisition. This vulnerability affects specific versions of the linux-hwe-edge kernel. A patch is available to extend the locking scope and prevent this race condition.
