A time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's liveupdate component (luo_session_retrieve function) has been fixed. The issue involved insufficient locking scope, allowing a concurrent thread to release and free a session between lookup and mutex lock acquisition. This could lead to use-after-free conditions or other concurrency issues. The vulnerability has been resolved by extending the scope of the read lock to cover the mutex acquisition, preventing the race condition.
