This issue is fixed in the Linux kernel versions identified by the commits 96efee36453b697ccbaf75091b7a1807c11809dd, 7c701778c6a369769992614dac8dc00c8ac72afc, 05eaa887e7b4f40fba425f8a1d7a5a8a043092a6, and 0ee0532f1d405d37f38c44cbba87342e63d3bbd4. Users should update to a patched kernel version to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required once patched.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/vmwgfx driver can cause a kernel panic due to a NULL pointer dereference when cleaning up the vkms workqueue on initialization failure. This happens because two error paths can leave the workqueue pointer NULL, but the cleanup function attempts to destroy it unconditionally. The issue is fixed by ensuring the workqueue is always allocated or by checking for NULL before destruction.
