AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel at the specified commits. Users should update to a kernel version including these fixes to prevent this NULL pointer dereference. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's vmwgfx driver allows a NULL pointer dereference when a DX_BIND_QUERY command is submitted without a valid DirectX context. This occurs because the function vmw_cmd_dx_bind_query() dereferences a NULL pointer if the dx_context_handle is invalid, leading to a kernel oops. The issue is fixed by adding a check to reject such commands early with an error code.
