A fix has been implemented to reject DX_BIND_QUERY commands without a valid DX context by returning -EINVAL before any state changes occur. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel version containing this fix once available. No other mitigation steps are specified or required.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's vmwgfx driver allows a NULL pointer dereference when handling DX_BIND_QUERY commands without a valid DirectX context. This occurs because the function vmw_cmd_dx_bind_query() dereferences a NULL pointer if the dx_context_handle is invalid, leading to a kernel oops. The issue is resolved by rejecting such commands early with an error code.
