A fix is available in the Linux kernel versions identified by the provided commit hashes. Users should update to a fixed kernel version to resolve this issue. No additional mitigation is required as the patch properly addresses the vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's binfmt_misc subsystem was fixed by changing how write access denial is handled for interpreter clones. Previously, the denial and allowance of write access used different methods, causing the interpreter inode's write count to decrease incorrectly and potentially leaving the interpreter unwritable even after use. The fix ensures consistent use of exe_file_deny_write_access() and proper failure propagation, causing exec calls to fail with ETXTBSY if the interpreter is concurrently open for writing.
