AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel source code. Systems running affected versions should apply the official patches or upgrade to a fixed kernel version. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA usb-audio driver (snd_usbmidi_akai_output function) allows an out-of-bounds write when a USB device advertises a very small bulk-OUT endpoint. This occurs due to a signed integer underflow in computing the buffer boundary, causing the loop to write beyond the allocated buffer when writing to /dev/snd/midiC*D* nodes. The issue has been fixed by adding an early return to prevent the loop from running with an invalid bound.
