AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a fixed kernel version that includes the patch identified by the listed commit hashes. No additional mitigation steps are required once the patch is applied.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rtl8723bs staging driver allows an out-of-bounds read in the WMM_param_handler() function. This occurs because the function copies a fixed-size WMM parameter element without validating the length of the received information element, leading to memory reads beyond the element's boundary when processing short WMM IEs. The flaw is reachable remotely via association response frames from an access point. The issue has been fixed by adding proper length validation within the handler.
