A fix for this vulnerability is available and has been applied in specific Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes to mitigate the vulnerability. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official patch or upgrading to a fixed kernel release is the recommended remediation.
Description
CVE-2026-74671 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IMA subsystem caused by an out-of-bounds read in the xattr_verify() function. The issue arises from a flawed digest-length check that mixes signed and unsigned integer types, leading to an underflow and subsequent memory read beyond the allocated buffer when processing truncated extended attributes. This flaw has been fixed in specific Linux kernel commits.
