AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in multiple commits to the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should update to a fixed kernel version that includes these patches. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official kernel updates is the recommended remediation.

Description

CVE-2026-74673 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's evdev input subsystem where uninitialized padding bytes in the input_event structure can leak kernel stack memory to userspace. This occurs because the structure is allocated on the kernel stack and populated field-by-field without fully initializing all bytes, including padding. The issue affects version 2.6.24 and similar problems exist in related functions. The vulnerability has been fixed by explicitly zeroing the entire event structure before use.
