Technical Analysis

The Comelit Multi-User Gateway for VIP System (model 1456B) firmware versions 2.9.1 and 2.10.0 have a CWE-425 Direct Request ('Forced Browsing') vulnerability. The flaw arises because the server does not enforce authorization checks on the administrative password-change function. As a result, an authenticated user with limited privileges can invoke this function to overwrite the installer account password, effectively escalating privileges to administrator level.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with limited privileges can overwrite the administrator password, gaining full control over the device. This compromises confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system, as indicated by the CVSS score of 8.8 (high severity). No known exploits are reported in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, restrict authenticated user access and monitor for unauthorized password changes.
