AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in multiple commits to the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official patch or upgrading to a fixed kernel version is the recommended mitigation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's HID picolcd driver could cause a NULL pointer dereference due to an integer overflow in the loop counter within the picolcd_send_and_wait() function. This occurs if the loop executes more than INT_MAX times, causing the signed integer to become negative and leading to out-of-bounds access. The issue has been fixed by changing the loop counter to an unsigned integer to prevent overflow.
