AI-suggested

This vulnerability has been fixed in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a fixed kernel version containing the patches identified by the provided commit hashes. Since this is not a cloud service, manual patching is required. Patch status is confirmed by the presence of fixed versions.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Hyper-V synthetic HID host component allows a malicious Hyper-V host or backend to crash a guest by sending a malformed initial device-info message with an oversized HID report descriptor length. This occurs because the kernel did not properly validate the bounds of the HID descriptor and report descriptor bytes, potentially causing out-of-bounds reads.
