AI-suggested
This vulnerability has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 5.10.267, 5.5, and 5.15, among others. Users and administrators should update affected Linux kernel versions to these fixed releases or later to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation is required once the system is updated.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's IPv6 networking code in the function ip6_finish_output2(). This flaw occurs when the function uses a stale pointer to the IPv6 destination address after a call to lwtunnel_xmit(), potentially leading to sensitive kernel data leakage, neighbour table corruption, traffic misdirection, or system crashes. The issue has been fixed by ensuring the IPv6 header and destination address pointer are re-fetched after lwtunnel_xmit() returns.
