AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes to prevent the dma_buf reference leak. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/vmwgfx component causes a dma_buf reference leak when an unprivileged renderD client imports a non-vmwgfx prime file descriptor. This leak occurs because the reference acquired by dma_buf_get() is not released on error, leading to indefinite pinning of foreign GEM resources. The issue has been fixed by ensuring the reference is properly dropped via dma_buf_put() on error paths.
