Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-81305 is a vulnerability in the CareCam HMT.CM2507 firmware (version 251211.1507) where the device automatically runs a predetermined script from removable media without any verification of the script's authenticity or integrity. This lack of validation (CWE-829) enables an attacker who has physical access to the device to execute arbitrary code within the security context of the device, potentially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

An attacker with physical access can execute arbitrary code on the affected device, leading to full compromise of the device's confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This could result in unauthorized control or disruption of the IP camera's functions.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix is currently available for this vulnerability. Since the attack requires physical access, restricting physical access to the device is recommended as a mitigation measure. Monitor vendor advisories for any future patches or updates addressing this issue.
