Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-82851 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the Masteriyo LMS WordPress plugin before version 3.4.1. The plugin fails to verify that users with the instructor role own the records they request for download, nor does it restrict the types of records accessible. This allows such users to retrieve full content and metadata of arbitrary posts, including private and draft courses of other instructors, potentially exposing sensitive course information.

Potential Impact

Users with the instructor role can access unauthorized content, including private and draft courses of other instructors. This could lead to exposure of sensitive educational materials and metadata that should be restricted, violating confidentiality and potentially impacting course integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Masteriyo LMS plugin to version 3.4.1 or later, where this authorization bypass vulnerability has been addressed. No other mitigation guidance is provided in the available data.
