Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-84171 is a vulnerability in the WP images upload on piclect WordPress plugin through version 1.0. The plugin fails to validate the name or type of uploaded files before saving them to a publicly accessible directory. This lack of validation permits unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files, which can be used to execute arbitrary code on the affected server.

Potential Impact

An attacker can upload malicious files to the server without authentication, potentially leading to remote code execution. This compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict or disable file uploads via the plugin and monitor for suspicious activity related to file uploads.
