Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-84398 affects CareCam HMT.CM2507 firmware version 251211.1507. The vulnerability arises because the ONVIF management service accepts an empty password for a privileged account, enabling an attacker with network access to perform privileged management operations. This includes obtaining device details, user information, media profiles, and stream configuration data. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 7.5, reflecting a high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, and no user interaction needed. The vulnerability is categorized under CWE-258, indicating use of a password with insufficient complexity.

Potential Impact

An attacker with network access to the affected device can bypass authentication by using an empty password on a privileged account exposed via the ONVIF management service. This grants access to sensitive management functions and configuration data, potentially compromising device confidentiality. There is no indication of impact on integrity or availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is currently available for this vulnerability. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is provided, restrict network access to the device's ONVIF management service to trusted hosts only and monitor for unauthorized access attempts.
