AI-suggested

A fix is available in Zephyr version 4.5.0, which replaces the vulnerable k_work_cancel() call with k_work_cancel_sync() to properly synchronize work cancellation and resource freeing. Users should upgrade to Zephyr 4.5.0 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigations are specified or required.

Description

CVE-2026-85032 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Zephyr project's MCTP over USB device class subsystem. The flaw arises from improper synchronization between two threads handling USB data reception and device disable operations, allowing a race condition that can lead to memory corruption or null pointer dereference. This affects Zephyr versions from 4.4.0 up to but not including 4.5.0. The issue is fixed in version 4.5.0.
