Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-86199 affects PocketMine-MP versions prior to 5.43.1 by failing to properly validate the Certificate field during offline login authentication. This improper validation enables unauthenticated attackers to trigger an uninitialized property access error, causing the server to crash. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 8.7, indicating high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact on availability.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can cause a denial of service by crashing the PocketMine-MP server. Since no authentication or privileges are required, any unauthenticated player can trigger this condition remotely, potentially disrupting game availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, consider restricting access to the server or implementing network-level protections to limit unauthenticated login attempts.
