Fixed versions 7.1.2-30 and 6.9.13-55 are available and should be applied to remediate this vulnerability. Users should upgrade ImageMagick to these versions or later to ensure the TOCTOU issue is resolved. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

CVE-2026-86424 is a time-of-check-time-of-use (TOCTOU) vulnerability in ImageMagick's video decoder affecting versions before 7.1.2-30 and 6.9.13-55. It allows attackers with limited privileges to bypass path policy write restrictions by exploiting symlink swaps between the policy validation and file write operations. This vulnerability has a low severity score and does not involve user interaction or network attack vectors.
