Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-87118 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability (CWE-787) in the Botslab G980H dash camera firmware's command processing. An attacker with authenticated adjacent network access can send specially crafted commands that corrupt memory, potentially disrupting authentication or causing process termination and device reboot. This results in a temporary denial of service condition. The vulnerability affects specific firmware versions =30010_QHG980HN5294SysFW+ and =58_QHG980HMCN5291SysFW+.

Potential Impact

Exploitation can cause memory corruption leading to disruption of authentication state or termination of the affected process, which triggers a device restart. This results in a temporary denial of service on the affected dash camera device. There is no indication of code execution or data disclosure from the provided information.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict authenticated access to the device from adjacent networks to reduce risk.
