Published: 09/24/2026 (09/24/2026, 19:59:50 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Botslab
Product: G980H

Description

The Botslab G980H dash camera firmware has an authentication vulnerability in its root account accessible via the UART interface. This interface does not require a password, allowing unauthenticated physical access to privileged system functions. Additionally, the device's WiFi password is displayed during startup on this interface. An attacker with physical access could exploit this to gain root privileges and recover the WiFi password.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-88956 describes a missing authentication vulnerability (CWE-306) in the Botslab G980H dash camera firmware. The root account exposed through the UART interface does not require authentication, enabling an attacker with physical access to connect to this interface and gain root privileges. The UART interface also reveals the device's WiFi password during startup, increasing the risk of credential compromise. The vulnerability affects specific firmware versions =30010_QHG980HN5294SysFW+ and =58_QHG980HMCN5291SysFW+.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker with physical access to the device can gain root-level access through the UART interface and obtain the WiFi password. This compromises device security and network confidentiality, potentially allowing further unauthorized access to the local network.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix is currently documented. Physical security controls to prevent unauthorized access to the UART interface are recommended. Monitor vendor advisories for updates or firmware patches addressing this vulnerability.
