Vendor/Project: MongoDB
Product: Laravel MongoDB (PHP)

Description

CVE-2026-88022 is a high-severity vulnerability in the MongoDB integration for Laravel (PHP) that involves improper neutralization of special elements in data query logic. Specifically, when using the three-argument where method with the operator '=' or 'eq', as well as the find and delete methods that rely on this code path, an array supplied as a filter can be misinterpreted as a query condition rather than a literal value. This can allow an attacker to retrieve or delete documents beyond the intended target if they can supply an operator-shaped array to these APIs.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability arises from improper neutralization of special elements in data query logic within the Laravel MongoDB PHP integration. The affected functions include the three-argument where method when the operator is '=' or 'eq', and the find and delete methods that use this logic. An attacker able to supply an operator-shaped array to these APIs may cause the application to interpret the array as a query condition, potentially leading to unauthorized document retrieval or deletion beyond the intended scope.

Potential Impact

An attacker who can influence the input to the affected APIs may obtain documents other than the intended target or delete documents beyond the intended target. This can lead to unauthorized data disclosure or data loss. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.4 (high severity), indicating significant impact with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and no user interaction required.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, avoid passing user-controlled arrays as equality filter values in the affected methods. Review application code to ensure that inputs to the three-argument where method (with '=' or 'eq' operators), find, and delete methods are properly validated and sanitized to prevent operator-shaped arrays from being interpreted as query conditions.
