A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to clone the source bio's biovec instead of copying it, resolving the I/O hang issue. Users should apply the updated kernel versions containing this fix. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device mapper I/O (dm-io) handling was fixed by changing how bio vectors are cloned for DM_IO_BIO requests. Previously, the code copied the biovec page-by-page with sector-based accounting that could lose sub-sector fragments, causing an infinite loop and I/O hang on misaligned direct I/O to dm-mirror devices. The fix clones the source bio's biovec directly, eliminating the problematic copy and sector accounting, thus preventing the hang.
