A fix is available that properly validates feature field sizes and clamps copy operations to prevent out-of-bounds writes. Users should update affected Linux kernel versions to patched releases. No vendor advisory was provided, so check the Linux kernel or distribution vendor for official patches.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's HID sensor-hub subsystem caused an out-of-bounds write due to improper handling of feature field sizes in sensor_hub_get_feature(). This flaw allowed a malicious HID descriptor to trigger a buffer overflow by advertising a large feature field size while the caller provided a smaller buffer. The issue has been resolved by rejecting feature fields that require more than one slot per value and clamping copy operations to the caller's buffer size.
