Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's xHCI USB driver causes lost bounce buffers when Transfer Descriptors (TDs) span multiple ring segments. This results in stale data remaining in the destination buffer without error indication, potentially causing data corruption and leaking DMA mappings. The issue affects large and fragmented bulk USB transfers, particularly with SuperSpeed devices where the wMaxPacketSize is 1024 bytes. It was discovered in scenarios involving USB mass storage devices behind xHCI backing dm-verity targets. The vulnerability has been resolved in specific Linux Azure kernel versions.
