A fix is available that adds explicit bounds checking to prevent the out-of-bounds read. Users should update to patched versions of the linux-azure kernel listed as affectedVersions to remediate this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rtl8723bs staging driver allows an out-of-bounds (OOB) read in the rtw_restruct_wmm_ie() function. The issue occurs because a boundary check is missing before advancing to the next information element (IE) in a buffer, potentially leading to a 1-byte OOB read of attacker-controlled data. This flaw has been resolved by adding an explicit bounds check before advancing the IE pointer.
