AI-suggested

A fix is available that delays the final Login Response until the session is fully registered, preventing the NULL pointer dereference. Users should apply the official Linux kernel patches that address this issue. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, upgrading to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IB/isert subsystem was resolved by delaying the final Login Response until the session is fully registered. The flaw caused a NULL pointer dereference and kernel oops when an initiator sent a SCSI command immediately after receiving the final Login Response, before the session's target portal group was initialized. This could lead to a general protection fault and kernel crash. The issue was observed in specific Linux kernel versions and has been fixed.
