AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to reject invalid super-root inode sizes that exceed the filesystem block size, preventing out-of-bounds reads. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch to remediate the vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nilfs2 filesystem implementation allows an out-of-bounds read due to trusting the super-root inode metadata size before validation. This flaw can cause nilfs_read_inode_common() to read beyond the super-root block when parsing malformed filesystem images. The issue has been resolved by rejecting super-root inode sizes whose computed on-disk footprint exceeds the filesystem block size.
