Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in HKUDS nanobot (versions 0.2.0 and 0.2.1) involves incomplete blacklist enforcement in the ExecTool._guard_command and ExecTool._spawn functions within the ExecTool component. The flaw allows remote attackers to bypass blacklist restrictions, potentially enabling unauthorized command execution. The issue is addressed by applying the patch referenced by commit af582246f141311d574551b7571a517bcc3df750.

Potential Impact

The incomplete blacklist in the affected functions could allow remote attackers to initiate commands that should be blocked, potentially leading to unauthorized actions within the nanobot environment. The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3 indicates a medium impact with network attack vector, low complexity, no user interaction, and limited confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and recommended to fix this vulnerability, identified by commit af582246f141311d574551b7571a517bcc3df750. Users should apply this patch to versions 0.2.0 and 0.2.1 of HKUDS nanobot to remediate the issue.
